Troubleshooting¶
Common issues and how to resolve them.
Login problems¶
Can't log in
- Double-check your email/username and password.
- After 5 failed login attempts, you'll be temporarily blocked. Wait a few minutes and try again.
- If you've forgotten your password, ask your team admin to reset it.
Site connection issues¶
"Fetch site info" fails
- Make sure the URL includes
https://at the beginning. - The site must be publicly accessible — RankerBase can't connect to sites behind a VPN or firewall.
WordPress connection failures¶
Test connection returns 401
- Verify the username is correct.
- In WordPress, regenerate the Application Password and update it in RankerBase.
- Make sure you're using an Application Password, not your regular WordPress login password.
Test connection returns 403
- The WordPress user needs
publish_postscapability. Use an admin or editor account. - Check if a security plugin (Wordfence, Sucuri, etc.) is blocking REST API access.
Test connection returns SSL error
- Verify your WordPress site has a valid SSL certificate.
- Self-signed certificates may cause issues — consider using Let's Encrypt.
Posts not appearing in WordPress
- RankerBase creates all posts as Drafts. Check the Drafts section in WordPress, not Published.
- Verify the publish action succeeded by checking the backlog item status in RankerBase.
See WordPress Integration for full setup instructions.
GSC / GA4 OAuth issues¶
OAuth callback error
- Try disconnecting and reconnecting the integration from the site settings page.
- If the error persists, contact your administrator — the OAuth redirect URI may need to be updated in Google Cloud Console.
No GSC properties available
- Make sure your Google account has verified ownership or is added as a user on the GSC property.
- The GSC property URL must match your site URL format (including
https://vshttp://, with or without trailing slash).
GA4 shows no properties
- Verify your Google account has access to the GA4 properties you expect to see.
Data not updating
- GSC data has a 2–3 day reporting delay — this is a Google limitation, not a RankerBase issue.
- If data is more than 5 days stale, contact support.
See Google Search Console and Google Analytics 4 for setup guides.
Content generation stuck¶
Generation started but no progress
- If a generation task has been running for more than 15 minutes with no progress, it may have encountered an issue.
- Try refreshing the page. If the status is still stuck, contact support to have the task reset.
Tip
While you wait, you can continue working on other backlog items — generation tasks run independently.
Billing / signup issues¶
Signup page not loading
- Make sure you're using the correct RankerBase URL.
- Try clearing your browser cache or using a private/incognito window.
- If the issue persists, contact support.
Checkout redirects fail
- Try again in a few minutes. If the issue persists, contact support.
- Make sure your browser isn't blocking pop-ups or redirects.
Subscription not activating after payment
- It may take a minute or two for your subscription to activate after a successful payment.
- Refresh the page. If your plan still doesn't appear after a few minutes, contact support with your payment confirmation.
See Billing & Credits for more details.
Autopilot not running¶
Autopilot is enabled but nothing happens
- Check your autopilot configuration — make sure it's active and not paused.
- Ensure your site has keyword opportunities available for selection.
- Autopilot runs on a daily schedule. If you just enabled it, it may take up to 24 hours for the first run.
Autopilot runs but doesn't publish
- Check the approval mode. In review or moderate mode, items still require human approval before publishing.
- If quality gates are enabled, items that don't meet minimum score thresholds won't be published.
- Remember: WordPress posts are created as Drafts — check the Drafts section in WordPress.
Refresh tasks not appearing¶
Decay detection finds nothing
- Make sure GSC is connected and has at least 2 months of historical data.
- Your content may not yet show significant metric declines. Decay detection looks for meaningful drops in clicks or impressions over time.
See Refresh Mode for more on how decay detection works.
