Creating backlog items

Backlog items are created by:

  1. Promoting opportunities — The most common path. Promote from the Opportunities page.
  2. Manual creation — Add a keyword or topic directly to the backlog from the UI.
  3. Autopilot — Autopilot selects keywords and creates backlog items automatically.

Backlog detail page

Each backlog item has a detail page showing:

  • Content — The generated draft with revisions
  • SERP brief — Competitor analysis data (when enabled)
  • Content score — Draft scored against the SERP brief with coverage metrics
  • Fact-check checklist — Claims to verify, with automated verification results
  • Internal link suggestions — Relevant internal links to add
  • Performance data — GSC/GA4 metrics after publishing
  • Review history — Approval/rejection comments

Content generation

From the backlog detail page, trigger content generation:

  1. Generate Outline — AI creates a structured outline with headings
  2. Generate Draft — Full article generation in the background, including:
    • Article body with headings and sections
    • Title suggestions
    • Meta description
    • FAQ section
    • Fact-check checklist
    • Optional: images, YouTube embeds, tables

You'll see real-time progress updates while the draft is being generated.
